Artist Statement

I enjoy using bright colors and line work to interpret my experiences of certain objects or images visually. Every conscious being constructs the world around them uniquely due to genetics and evolution. The colours we see come down to survival—they were important to our ancestors and their specific environmental conditions. I use primarily chalk and oil pastels to create my drawings. I use colours intuitively, often revealing hypnotic patterns of swirling fluorescent colours. My goal is to evoke in the viewer a sense of empathy towards nature, by fostering our connection to everything living.
