Artist Statement

In my work I enjoy using bright colors and line work to visually interpret my experiences of certain objects or images. Every conscious being constructs the world around them uniquely due to genetics and evolution. The colours we see come down to survival—they were important to our ancestors and their specific environmental conditions. These conditions have drastically changed and will continue to change along with new technological developments. The infinite ways in which a life form can perceive is an idea that has and continues to inspire me in the creation of my work. I use primarily chalk and oil pastels to create drawings of my surroundings. I use colours intuitively, often revealing hypnotic patterns of swirling fluorescent colours. My goal is to evoke in the viewer a sense of empathy towards nature, by fostering our connection to everything living.
